CREATIVITY & WELL-BEING ///
1. Get up 30 minutes earlier
I love painting fresh out of bed in the mornings. A clear head and the whole day ahead of you. Even if you play creatively for 10 minutes, it will soon add up. You will be amazed. What a great way to start the day.
2. Join an Instagram challenge
There are lots of free challenges you can do on Instagram. For example, #the100dayproject or shorter, there are many 30-day challenges - try searching by hashtag and incorporate your favourite subjects or materials or artists
3. Start a sketchbook
Filling up a sketchbook with doodles and drawings is an excellent focus for a regular art practice. Set rules so you don't have to think yourself out of showing up. For example, stick to one medium, even if it's just graphite pencil and decide on your themes. For example, draw flowers and plants from your garden or whatever theme you feel you really want to explore.
4. Take a weekly art class
Showing up once a week with other like minded souls. If you're keen, you can commit to practising what you have learnt for 10 minutes each day.
5. Find an arty friend
Forget coffee dates; how about art dates? Think about your friend groups and if there is anyone with creative interests like you. How fun to sit and paint or crochet together over coffee and cake. Or start a catch-up group on a local community Facebook page or similar?
6. Make a dedicated art space
Depending on your space, you might have to get creative here, but if you want to prioritise getting creative, you should also prioritise a space to do it in. Having everything ready to go and being able to dip in and out of your creative space is a game changer. Simple options would be to turn a study into a creative den, or change your dressing table into an art desk or declare a corner of a room for yourself and your creative mess that's off-limits to everyone else.
7. Find an arty DIY project at home
Upcycle something wooden with some pretty acrylic florals or patterns, like a tired wooden picture frame or a small piece of wooden furniture. Paint some white shoes with the kids.
8. Keep it simple
Don't over complicate it. If you have great ambition but you need more confidence. Start small. Learning to draw simple things is a great way to start an art practice. It helps you to understand shapes and ratios.
How will you add more creativity to life?
