9 ways to surround yourself with happy flowers to boost your day

CONNECT HEART & HOME ///

Yes, you really can buy yourself flowers! Thanks, Miley. Flowers are a wonderful, simple and natural way to add colour, charm and vibrancy to your life. I don't believe there is such a thing as too many flowers. They certainly shouldn't be saved for special occasions only. Flowers bring light, life and beautiful scents into your home and are a perfect anytime gift for yourself or someone you want to make feel special.

1. Pots of flowers

Plant some pretty annual flowers in pots in your garden. The extra effort to buy, pot and water some pretty flowers is worth it, when you get to wake up to blossoming flowers every day. When they start to wither, you can just replace them.

2. Buy yourself flowers

Buy some simple flowers next time you are at the supermarket. You don't have to go out of your way or spend much. Put them in a vase somewhere you will see them throughout your day. I usually have flowers in my kitchen and my art studio. You will be surprised at how uplifting a few pretty blossoms are to your week.

3. Prune a flowering tree

Prune a little stem from a flowering tree and prop it up in a vase with sand or small stones; use what you have. Trees need pruning anyway, just choose a time when the stem is full of blossoms.

4. Floral cushions

Buy some cushions with pretty floral designs on them. Put them on the couch, occasional chair, outdoor setting, or anywhere you could do with a boost of colour. Then every time you walk past, you will get a hit of floral loveliness.

5. Take a walk

Take a walk around a garden centre or, even better, a botanical garden. What a cheery floral place to have an aimless stroll, taking in pretty flowers and floral displays. All done for you by the experts!

6. Wear flowers

Wear something floral. Flower earrings, a floral top. Wearing flowers is a beautiful way to lift yourself and others up. I love wearing flowers to boost my mood.

7. Floral art

Buy some floral art. Make your floral love permanent by investing in floral artwork that lifts you up. The gift to yourself that keeps on giving as you fill your walls with colour and flowers.

8. Floral screen saver

Take photographs of your favourite flowers, and turn them into a screen saver collage for your computer. Little pops of colour as you move from one task to another throughout the day.

9. Floral colouring in page

Do a floral colouring page. Mindful colouring is a great low-pressure way to expand your creativity and become more present in your day. Buy a colouring book or many websites that offer free colouring page downloads
