My intention for creating this painting
“Self Love” piece was born from a deep desire to honour the journey of coming home to oneself. I wanted to capture the energy of renewal, grace, and feminine strength that arises when we stop looking outside for validation and instead bloom from within. Surrounded by symbols of nature’s wisdom — butterflies, wildflowers, and soft light — she embodies the gentle courage it takes to nurture your own heart. She stands rooted in her truth, with eyes wide open and heart quietly radiant.
What this painting evokes for me personally, on reflection
When I sit with this painting now, I feel a quiet kind of power. The kind that doesn’t need to prove anything. I’m reminded of the many seasons in my own life when self-love felt distant — and how healing began when I chose to pause, soften, and listen within. Her expression holds a knowing… the kind that arrives when we choose ourselves. Creating her helped me reflect on how self-love isn’t just a feeling — it’s a practice, a reclaiming, a return.
