8 tips for owning your creative path and standing in your creative power

CREATIVITY AND WELL BEING ///

The creative journey is like a theme park. Sometimes it's wild like you're on a rollercoaster or a giant drop and other times its slow and calm, more like a ferris wheel or carousel.

It is ever changing and dynamic but relentlessly rewarding if you are brave enough to show up!

To truly thrive as a creative individual, it's essential not only to embrace your creativity but also to assertively wield your creative power. Here are a few strategies to help unlock your creative potential, and instinctively navigate the ebbs and flows of your creative journey.

  1. Acknowledge Your Creative Uniqueness:

At the heart of owning your creative path is recognising the distinctiveness of your creative voice. Embrace your individuality and the unique perspective you offer to your creative work. Try not to compare yourself to others and follow trends. Instead, let your creativity flow authentically from within the deepest parts of you.

  1. Cultivate Trust in Your Creative Intuition:

Your creative intuition is a guiding force. It's the innate sense that leads you to make glorious and unique artistic choices. Learn to trust this intuition and allow it to shape your creative decisions. Often, it is in those instinctual moments that your most profound creative work emerges.

  1. Address and Overcome Self-Doubt:

Creative self-doubt can be a disaster. And often stops us from even starting. It often manifests as nagging uncertainty about the quality of your work or even your creativity. To assert your creative power, acknowledge these doubts, but don't let them dictate your creative process. Forge ahead with conviction, as even the most accomplished artists face self doubt and negative thoughts.

  1. Embrace Risk and Vulnerability:

Your creative power blossoms when you venture beyond your comfort zone, experiment with new concepts, and express genuine emotions. Don't shy away from creative risks or vulnerability. Give yourself permission to play and experiment. This space is where the artistic breakthroughs happen.

  1. Seek Inspiration Widely:

Inspiration is a potent force in creativity. Keep your senses attuned to the world around you, as inspiration can be found in everyday experiences, the beauty of nature, art, and music. Art making from diverse sources can invigorate and ignite your creative spark.

  1. Engage in Collaboration and Sharing:

Sharing your creative journey with others can be a source of empowerment. Collaborate with fellow artists, welcome feedback, and immerse yourself in the creative community. Even something simple like starting an anonymous instagram page. Sharing art can be liberating and provide new perspectives, realisations and encouragement.

  1. Commit to Lifelong Growth:

Owning your creative path is a commitment to continual growth. Strive to enhance your skills, broaden your knowledge, and remain inquisitive. The creative journey is ongoing, and your progress serves as a testament of dedication to your curiosity.

  1. Embrace Failure as a Catalyst:

Failure is an integral part of the creative journey. It is not a stumbling block but a constructive teacher, revealing what doesn't work and what doesn't feel good for you. Rather than being disheartened by failure, use it as a source of valuable insights, adapt your approach, and employ it to propel your creative evolution.

The creative journey calls for resilience, resourcefulness, and an unwavering belief in the importance and value of your distinctive creative voice.

Embrace your individuality, have faith in your instincts, and infuse authenticity into your creative endeavors.

As you embark on your creative journey remember that your creativity embodies strength and empowerment. It is your unique gift, your voice, and your legacy in the realm of art and expression. Move forward with confident curiosity, allowing your creative power to radiate brilliantly into the world.
