"My personal favourite in this collection. A celebration of the upright and voluptuous, bursting nature of these bright pink Chrysanthemums. These were a joy to paint; the scale of the piece ensured that the bubbly tightly knit petals came together surprisingly effortlessly, whilst each petal has been clearly defined. Each petal having its own special place on the flower head.
Coupled with the darkest deep purple leaves (that turned the vase water a glorious hot pink!). The contrast and robustness of these vibrant, rich colours from the one plant left me contemplating in awe as I painted subtle colour variations and the veins in these leaves.
I simply love how the pretty white Erlicheer flowers stand somewhat muted but equally proud next to the huge Chrysanthemums. The details in these creamy white little flowers seemed to come together by themselves. The little pops of buttery yellow bring the white petals to life. A reminder that there is magnificence in the subtle and small details of nature.
For me, the bright green of the Lucadendron provide a marriage to balance the piece.
